Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit my fund raising page.
As many of you know dad died in March 2024, he died peacefully at Oakhaven hospice, 4 days after being admitted. As soon as he arrived at Oakhaven, he felt safe and they offered us support in the weeks that followed. As a family we are grateful to have Oakhaven so close to home and know that it has supported many friends and family too.
Dad was diagnosed with cholangiocarcinoma (bile duct cancer) in Feb 2024 and died a month later (23rd March 24) I was 14 and my brother Joe was 16. As a family we were all in shock and felt like we were and still are on a treadmill, which we cant get off. I completed the Oakhaven walk with mum and Laura in May, and although it was tough, it was a brilliant event, as i finished, i looked at mum, (who was very broken)and said i could run that! And that is what i am training to do in March 2026 on the day that marks 2 years without dad. Dad loved to tell us that he had run the London Marathon, and although i am currently to young, one day i hope to complete that challenge too, but this year I am going to start with running from Sandbanks in Poole back to Lymington, and i hope to raise money for Oakhaven.
Thank you, for taking the time to read my page, and thank you to Barry Ward who has supported me through the winter months with evening training, wind, rain and lots of my chatter (moaning) along the way!
