Story
Earlier this year, I spent eight months travelling across Southeast Asia. I explored some incredible places and saw many harsh realities of life in underdeveloped areas like places in the Philippines and Borneo.
Every day, I met children on the streets, playing, smiling, and full of potential, but instead of being in school, they were begging us for food. It was heartbreaking. I tried to help in small ways, offering food when I could. Deep down it felt like I wasn't really solving anything, instead I was fuelling the problem more than anything.
That experience stayed with me. It made me realise how unfair the world can be and how easily access to education can change the course of a child’s life. I came home knowing I wanted to do something to help.
That’s why I’m running the Hackney Half Marathon to raise money for World Villages for Children, a charity that provides free education, care, and support for children living in poverty. They give kids the opportunity to learn, grow, and dream, instead of struggling just to survive.
Every donation, no matter how small, helps give these children the future they deserve. If you’re able to support, I’d be so grateful. x
