Story

Moor to the Shore is a 500 mile bike ride from Ilkley Moor, Yorkshire to St Ives, Cornwall in memory of my Mom Janet Green.

Most people who come across this page knew my Mom and may or may not know that these two places held a special place in her heart.

Mom was from Yorkshire and the Moors. It is a place of extremely fond memories.

St Ives was for many years a family holiday destination, where good times will always be remembered.

These places meant so much that as a family Mom wanted us to spread her ashes there after her passing. It was very Mom to have a say on these matters.

Whilst on holiday last year not long after losing Mom, I had the pipe-dream of an idea to cycle between these two beautiful spots to try to raise some money for cancer research.

After witnessing the pain and sorrow that cancer can cause firsthand to a family, I wanted to help raise money for the charity to work towards earlier diagnosis and treatment of this horrible disease.

So the chats began and enter stage left.....Alan Fincham and Big Dan Anderson (Pam) my other two Moor to the Shore superheroes!!!!

Together we are going to undertake a gruelling (remember the word Moor is used so rather hilly) 500 mile 5 day bike ride. This is going to be a challenge of a lifetime for the 3 of us and we need as much support as you can give to get us through and reach our audacious target.

Please donate what you can and are comfortable with, it'll mean the world.....those that can't, the support, shares and likes will help and mean just as much.

My Mom was an amazing woman and touched many peoples lives. From teaching the unteachable to swim to cooking for 40 cubs….she just loved to make people happy and comfortable. We all miss her tonnes….but don’t struggle to get a word in nowadays, which is weird.

Mom would have been the biggest cheerleader for this task and what makes it saddest, is that this had to happen to give the drive and motivation to do this.

I know we’ll be kept an eye on xxx

Keep an eye out for us out on the roads.....apologies if we slow you down.....we won't be going very fast!!!
