Story

Hi there,

To those who have already contributed to the event, I am extremely grateful. To any who have not yet and may wish to I would urge that you give whatever you can, all donations make a difference no matter the amount you are able to give.

I have already completed one night out for the "sleep out" it was at the time an unplanned night out under the stars of sunny Farnborough in Hampshire. I made myself comfortable on the high street near the Wetherspoons pub. I did get some attention from passers by, I spoke with one Hampshire Police Patrol who checked on my well being, no issues at all. I had a member of the public stop their car around 0300hrs to ask if I was OK (after a short chat they left)

It is my intention to spend tomorrow night (overnight) 27 Mar 26 in the town of Aldershot (including parts of the Garrison) Ultimately I will settle in the park area near Princes Hall, this is the area in which the Airborne Remembrance Statue is located. I will be equipped properly for the evening but there will be no tent cover, only that which is immediately available...as it is for the many who live on our streets. I will record the evening with photographs.

I am a 22 year Army Veteran having left service in 2005. I am now 63 and not as robust as I may once have been. Upon leaving service I worked in The Middle East, Southern Asia, various African Country's, the UK and occasionally in Mainland Europe.

During my time after service I made many friends in the security industry who I worked along side, many of them were former servicemen and women. Unfortunately due to the nature of some of their service and work they took after leaving many of those people fell on hard times, some took their lives some fell into addictions and financial problems which rendered them homeless, a condition which is not exclusive to the Veteran community, I know.

This is the first time I have signed up to "Tommy Sleep Out" I wish everyone taking part all the very best, together we can help to make a difference.

Thank you all,

David Moore

This March, we are taking part in The Great Tommy Sleep Out. Every night, thousands of veterans right here in the UK are facing the harsh reality of sleeping rough. Together, we can change it.

We'll be swapping the comfort of our beds for one night, or more, under the stars. No frills. No luxury. Just us, our sleeping bags and the cold.

Every pound you donate will go directly to Royal British Veterans Enterprise (RBVE), helping provide safe homes, mental health support, employment opportunities, and a community of veterans who support each other.

This isn’t just a fundraiser - it’s a statement: we don’t leave our veterans behind.
