Morris's LEJOG-AMOR (Adventurous, Mountainous, Off-Road) raising funds for Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team - Welfare and Social Fund

Morris RODHAM is raising money for Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team

Lands End to John O'Groats - AMOR (Adventurous, Mountainous, Off-Road)

One of the busier search and rescue teams in England, resourced entirely of volunteers, who are available and on call for 24 hours a day, every day of the year.

Story

[Please note that I have updated the target amount to £5,000 from the initial £3,000 as this was reached before I had ridden half of the journey! I still have half left to do so I hope that you don't mind me increasing the target and that there may be more donations to come as I continue the challenge! Thank you!]

Those who know me know that I love the mountains, and that I am a member of Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team, seeking to give back something for all my years of enjoying the hills.

Sadly, a knee injury forced me into early retirement from the Team, but I can still cycle! So my parting gift to the Team is to raise funds for their welfare and social fund, by attempting to cycle from Land’s End to John O’Groats, but by a unique, off-road, and very mountainous route! It will be about 1,600 miles with 170,000 feet of climbing.

Most off-road routes don’t include all the UK mountain areas, and miss out the Lake District Fells, so after weeks of research I designed this route myself, to go over and/or through almost all of the major mountain areas of the UK mainland, as much as possible on tracks and off-road. I’m not rushing it though, as I want to enjoy it as much as to complete it, with stops along the way! I expect it to take nearly 3 months - during August-October 2025.

As I love the mountains, I’ve called it LEJOG…… AMOR:
