In memory of Adam Chalmers

Kelpies Half Marathon 2026 · 26 September 2026 ·

The main activities of the charity are search and rescue of missing or injured persons in the hills of Tayside Region and beyond, the provision of training and equipment for the mountain rescue team members and the raising of funds to support such activities.

Story

Thanks for visiting my JustGiving page. On Saturday 23 May, Adam Chalmers tragically lost his life after being reported missing while hillwalking in the Ben Lawers mountain range.

It is a devastating loss to everyone who knew Adam and he will be terribly missed by all of his friends and family alike. In his memory and to pay tribute to Tayside Mountain Rescue for their tireless efforts that weekend, I am running the Kelpies Half Marathon on Saturday 26 September.

Tayside Mountain Rescue is made up of a group of highly skilled and dedicated volunteers who are on call 24:7, 365 days a year. They rely on donations to ensure they have the equipment they need in order to save lives and help ensure everyone can enjoy the Tayside countryside safely.

When I initially signed up for this event earlier this year, I imagined Adam and I would go to our local, The Wheatsheaf Inn, for a well-earned pint after the race. Sadly that isn't to be, but instead I'd love to use this as an opportunity to remember Adam and to support Tayside Mountain Rescue in continuing the vital work they do, and I'd be so grateful for everyone's support to do so.
