Morven-May's fundraiser for Lyme Resource Centre

Highland Swing · 31 May 2025
Hello all,
My name is Morven-May MacCallum and I’d adore to invite you to support and follow me on my next mad adventure! In the next few paragraphs I’ll outline who I am, what I’m planning and who I’m doing it for =).
Who I am: I’m from the beautiful and sadly tick infested Highlands and I have had Lyme disease since I was 14 years old. Like so many, I was misdiagnosed for over 5 years and, as a result, I ended up spending over 8 years of my life housebound and bedbound. I’m thankfully a lot better than I was, although I still have a long way to go.
With what health I’ve regained, I’ve written two novels (Finding Joy and Keeping Joy) and I use my writing to raise awareness of Lyme disease. I’ve taken on a number of amazing challenges over the years to help raise awareness and fund for Lyme disease such as skydives, photocalls in the Scottish Parliament, creating the Light up for Lyme Campaign and so much more. So I thought to myself…what else can I do and then I saw the Highland Swing!
What I’m doing: The Highland Swing is an incredible 40m above the ground, I will be winched out over the platforms and dropped 15m before the rope (hopefully) takes up my weight and swings me across the river Garry and back under the platform before being winched back up to the platform (which I’m still in debate over being the worst part).
Who I’m doing it for: I’m doing this for everyone who have Lyme, to try and help prevent others from contracting it, to raise awareness of Lyme disease and to hopefully raise some fund to Lyme Resource Centre Scotland. The Lyme Resource Centre (or LRC as commonly known) is a Scottish Registered charity. This unique Lyme disease charity is run by a team of trustees, volunteers and clinical advisers who give their time freely and voluntarily to help the charity meet its aims. It benefits from a highly skilled team of medical advisers, pharmacists, educationalists, engineers and other business professionals who guide and advise on policy, projects and collaborative partnerships.
Thanks for taking the time to read this and a huge thanks for any donations made!
