Akashaja's Motorcycle Pilgrimage: Padmaloka to Guhyaloka

Padmasagara McCarthy is raising money for The Guhyaloka Trust

Motorcycle Pilgrimage from Padmaloka to Guhyaloka · 9 July 2026

Guhyaloka has been the Triratna Buddhist Order's primary place for men's ordination since 1987. It has been vitally important in helping to shape what our community offers the world today. But to continue to thrive, it needs financial support.

Story

On 9 July 2026, Akashaja will embark on a very meaningful journey from Padmaloka to Guhyaloka on his trusty 2007 Triumph Rocket III.

This pilgrimage is not just a ride; it is a sacred mission. He'll carry with him a collection of Padmasambhava 'tsas tsas', generously sponsored by our community and retreatants at Padmaloka.

These sacred objects will find their home in the foundations and walls of Guhyaloka's new kitchen and dining block, symbolizing the special bond between Padmaloka and Guhyaloka.

The journey spans approximately 1300-1400 miles, and while Akashaja's bike will be 19 years old by the time of the trip, it remains in good shape despite having over 100,000 miles on the clock!

He anticipates that it will take four and a half days to reach Guhyaloka. Upon arrival on Monday 13th July, the community will warmly greet him, and together they'll partake in a special ritual to place the sacred objects into their new home.

This pilgrimage is an opportunity for us all to contribute to something greater than ourselves. If this journey resonates with you or inspires you in any way, we kindly ask for your support. Every contribution helps us reach our target of £3,000 for the Guhyaloka For The Ages project.

Your generosity will ensure that this sacred space continues to thrive for generations to come!
