Running a marathon

The George Oliver Foundation funds projects that support children and young people in the UK and abroad, in areas including health and education. The charity was set up in memory of our son George who died in 2009. You can find out more at www.georgesfoundation.org

Story

The George Oliver Foundation was set up in 2010 by Mark and Emily Oliver in memory of their son George. Since then the Foundation has raised £100,000s for children's charities around the world. The Foundation is run 100% voluntarily which means all funds raised go direct to the charities. Charities supported in recent years include mental health awareness with Blue Elephant Theatre, respite breaks for disadvantaged children with Fife Young Carers and Recyled Bikes to West Africa with Re-Cycle, among many others.

I have been running four years now and this is my second marathon. I was bowled over by the incredible response to the last one, and am excited to be running again for this brilliant charity. My three grandsons Alex, Rafael and Leonardo are my biggest fans and they've motivated me to take on this challenge again. I've also been inspired and supported by the huge encouragement from my friends and family.
