Story
Cancer Changed My Life, But It Never Changed My Purpose
Over the past year, cancer has taken me on a journey I never expected. Following surgery, I have now completed six sessions of chemotherapy. When I first began treatment, I made the decision to shave my head and turn that difficult moment into something positive by raising funds for Mount Vernon Cancer Centre—the remarkable place caring for me and so many others.
The outstanding care, kindness and compassion I have received have inspired me to give something back.
As a member of the Lions Club of Heston, service to others has always been at the heart of my life. This appeal is about turning my own experience into hope for future cancer patients.
Together, we have the opportunity to raise £100,000 to support a new treatment wing at Mount Vernon Cancer Centre, including facilities for the latest nuclear treatment trials for prostate cancer. Our immediate goal is to raise £50,000, after which we hope to secure match funding from Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF).
Thanks to the incredible generosity of our supporters, we have already raised £14,615.15, including Gift Aid. Every donation brings us one step closer to reaching that milestone and helping provide pioneering treatments, improved facilities and renewed hope for patients and their families.
I am deeply grateful to Veer Manpreet Singh for supporting this appeal and helping to share it with the wider community, and to everyone who has stood beside me with their prayers, encouragement and kindness throughout my journey.
If you are able to donate, or simply share this page, you will become part of something that will bring hope not only to today’s patients but to generations still to come.
Cancer may have become part of my journey, but it will never define my purpose. If my experience can help bring hope to someone else, then every step of this journey has meaning.
May every act of kindness we show today become a source of hope for someone tomorrow.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Jatinder Kaur
