Raising funds to purchase specialist medical equipment and enhance our unit to give parents a relaxing and welcoming environment whilst remaining close to their baby.

Story

What the little stars charity is aiming todo - The aim is to deliver family centred care and encourage parents to be involved in all aspects of their babies care during their stay on the ward.

Think of a baby that is small enough to fit in your hand, and the skill it takes to care for a baby that size. We need your support to enable us to support all members of a family during their time on the ward.

As some people may know already our son Albert was born on the 10th October 2024,Albert was born 3 weeks early but was still classed as a term baby so was not as small as most babies on the unit but

After coming into the world Albert’s lungs were not ready and he needed the excellent care from the doctors and nurses on the neonatal unit.

They took Albert to the unit promptly and started all medical treatment needed whilst supporting myself, Albert’s dad and my mum

The team were incredible, on the care they gave us all and kept us updated with everything they had done and will be doing.

Once I was discharged from hospital the unit allows family’s to stay will their babies. They have new comfortable bed chairs next to each incubator/cot.

They have a family room which also has a pull out bed for families to room in and have a night on their own with their babies ,but still have the support of nurses when needed.

Having your baby be rushed to the Neonatal unit is a very scary time and for me personally this affected my mental health quite considerably. This whole experience affected my family including my partner who has now made a mental health website called https://www.thriverise.org to help anyone find the help that they need.

The nurses on this unit were amazing at not only taking care of my baby but also supported me and got me the help I need too.

Albert is now home thanks to the amazing team and we have the continued support from the children’s ward who have also helped Albert many times.

So to give back to this amazing charity and unit I will be climbing mount snowdon at the start of June, this is something I’ve never come close to doing and I believe this will help my mental health too as well as raising the vital funds for those who need it the most.

Please donate if you can, every donation will help these babies get the care they need so they can get home to their families.

If you cannot donate a simple share will help so much

Thank you

And I will see you at the top of snowdon
