Walk · 11 November 2023

We offer information, activities & one-to-one support for men across Norfolk. Our activities give men purpose, the opportunity for connection with others, and for improved wellbeing. We believe happier and healthier men make for better brothers, partners, fathers, sons, colleagues and friends.

Story

Move your bum for Ben Plumb is back for 2023, please support us by walking and donating to raise as much money as we can for the brilliant mental health charity, MensCraft - https://menscraft.org.uk/. We lost Ben a father, son, brother, uncle and friend to suicide in January 2020, this is our way of doing something to help make a difference to others. The latest figures show that on average 125 people a week are dying to suicide in the UK, together we're doing our bit to change this. Please donate if you can, all donations are very gratefully received.

The walk - Saturday 11th November:

A similar setup to previous years, we will be doing two walks to cater for all abilities - a longer walk of around 12 - 15 miles starting at 10am and a walk for the masses of between 3 - 5 miles starting at 1:30pm. Both walks will be starting at the Buttercross in Bungay and finishing at the Earsham Queen (we're aiming to be there for approx 3/4pm) where we can all have a celebratory pint (or 5). The Queen have also kindly arranged for a food truck. If you're not able to join us on the day not to worry, you can support us by walking with friends and family wherever you may be and sharing this link - www.justgiving.com/page/moveyourbumforbenplumb

About MensCraft:

MensCraft is the leading organisation in Norfolk and Waveney with an exclusive focus on men’s health and wellbeing, working to provide activity, meaning and connection courtesy of a range of programmes. MensCraft aims to make a positive difference to men’s health and wellbeing; promote constructive conversations about men, maleness and masculinity and raise awareness and cultivate support for likeminded services, organisations.

Just one example of ways Menscraft support men: suicide prevention and reducing hopelessness in men via The Contact Service. The team of highly trained and experienced coordinators cover multiple locations across Norfolk and Waveney offering non-judgmental and confidential support. The number of referrals received is increasing all the time due to demand for mental health services and the waiting times for community provision. The team work to identify the needs of men and the strength of their suicidal feelings. Support plans and goals are collaborated on, and men are offered a dedicated number of hours of contact time, via face-to-face, telephone or online to discuss progress against these. These men are often signposted to other programmes and activities which MensCraft deliver.

Look forward to seeing you all on the day and a huge thank you for all your support, its much appreciated.
