Recently Scotland na Kenya – Pamoja for Children having been working with Moving Mountains Kenya , a registered NGO in Kenya that has been operating since 2004 implementing the programmes and projects which are funded by the Moving Mountains Trust in the UK. We have helped extend the kitchen at the Embu Rescue centre so they can supply more meals for the ‘street’ children of Embu as well as those who live in slums and need a good meal everyday.

In October 2026, Gilbert Njeru, the Director who looks after the Rescue Centre in Embu and others plan to undertake a 1000 mile cycle run from the Kenya/Ethiopia border to the Kenya/Tanzania border over 14 days.

Whilst my visit to Kenya won’t give me the time to undertake a 14 day cycle (and also I am not fit enough for that as I await a second hip replacement) I do want to do something to help support both the Rescue Centre and Scotland na Kenya – Pamoja for Children.

So starting on 1st January 2026 and every day from then, I will be cycling on a static bike at home. I aim to do my 1000 miles from home before I go to Kenya in October and if all goes to plan to complete my last few miles with the team undertaking the 1000 Bike Challenge.

The target will be approximately 100 miles/160 km every month and you can help by sponsoring me in my quest.
