I have the absolute privilege of being Maggie’s Wirral Chair since 2021 and during that time I have been absolutely inspired by all of the incredible people I meet. Not just the amazing team at the centre but the wonderful individuals and families who visit us.

I’ve always believed in not asking others to do something you wouldn’t do yourself……but little did I know that would include Ballroom dancing one day!! For those that know me, the reaction to the news has been the same…..shock, nervous laughter and ‘but you really can’t dance Jim!’ I wouldn’t disagree, I feel the same myself!

However, as many participants in this event say, it’s nothing compared to what some are going through every day and if I can do this and help raise awareness and funds, then every misstep (and hopefully some good ones too!) on the dance floor will be so worth it!

I’m not a stranger to cancer myself having been through my own treatment. I am also inspired to do this by my daughter Hannah, who is currently undergoing treatment again after facing cancer three times as a child.

Finally, thank you Sasha for agreeing to be my dance partner! You didn’t hesitate and as I am in my 80th year I appreciate it won’t be an easy task for either of us 😊
