Dom Rumun is raising money for Saint John Southworth Foundation

Ironman Klagenfurt Austria · 15 June 2025

The Vaughan Foundation works to advance the education of the pupils of the School and the broader public, as well as provide extra-curricular facilities and pupil support to ensure young people develop their skills and talents to enable them to participate in society as mature and responsible adults

Story

Each year we rely on the generosity of our wider Vaughan community to supplement government funding by donating to the Love & Service Fund. This fundraising allows us to enhance our teaching resources and provide a richer learning environment for our pupils. This tradition of philanthropy aligns with Cardinal Vaughan’s teaching that Catholic education should be advanced and funded through subscription, now known as fundraising and donations. Without this generosity, the Vaughan would not be the school it is today.

In October we launched the CVMS CX campaign with our Giving Day. This campaign celebrates the 110th anniversary of the school’s foundation in 1914. This campaign has the goal of raising an additional £110,000 in order to refurbish the toilets and maintain our enhanced teaching efforts.

I'm looking to compete in a full Ironman in Austria which would mean completing a 3.8km swim, 180km cycle and a marathon.

As of the start of June I have run 711km (equivalent of running from school to Bordeaux), cycled 2,482km (equivalent of school to Moscow) and swam 63,000m! The journey has involved battling foot and knee injuries, falling off the bike and throwing up in the sea.

Any donations would go a long way to improve the life of our pupils at the school!
