The London Marathon is London's most popular sporting event with over 40,000 people taking part.

Story

Mrs Southgate and Mrs Swallow have been lucky enough to gain places in the London Marathon 2025, running for the Ipswich Prep School charity of the year, Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY).

Mrs Southgate enjoys running and has run half marathons in the past but this will be her first marathon. After not enjoying London Marathon in 2024 ( hamstring went at 10 miles and calf at 16 miles) Mrs Swallow promised she would not be running another marathon yet she has been persuaded by Mrs Southgate and decided it can’t be as bad as last year!

We will be organising some additional fundraising events over the next few months to help our total and we would like to thank you all for supporting us this year.

Every week in the UK at least 12 young people die of undiagnosed heart conditions. Since its formation in 1995, Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) has been working to reduce the frequency of young sudden cardiac death (YSCD). CRY supports young people diagnosed with potentially life-threatening cardiac conditions and offers bereavement support to families affected by YSCD. CRY promotes and develops heart screening programmes and funds medical research. CRY publishes and distributes medical information written by leading cardiologists for the general public. CRY funds specialist referral, screening and cardiac pathology services at leading UK hospitals.
