I am delighted to be running for bursaries alongside a team of teachers, pupils, and school Heads on behalf of The Gold Standard Charitable Trust.

The LLHM couldn’t have come at a more perfect moment. It’s a race I’ve dreamed of running and this opportunity has finally given me the push I needed. As a mum of three children currently working their way through the state school system, I’ve seen first-hand how financial pressures can quietly place barriers in front of bright, eager learners. Growing up locally in West London myself makes this cause feel all the more personal - these are our families, our children, our communities.

After six wonderful years at Wetherby, I’ve seen the life-changing opportunities that education can offer when nothing stands in a child’s way. The Gold Standard Charitable Trust Bursary Fund brings that same possibility to children locally, giving them chances they may never have had otherwise. It does brilliant work making bursaries possible and bringing in fantastic, talented pupils whose family economic circumstances would otherwise prevent them from attending a school like Wetherby.

This year the Trust are supporting 30 young people with full and large bursaries. The Trust does not have an endowment, so they rely on fundraising events and appeals - such as this Half Marathon campaign - to raise the necessary funds each year. Every penny raised will go directly to support a child receiving a bursary.
