Muslim Scout Fellowship Ramadan 2024 Fundraising Appeal

The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. - Chinese Proverb
Well, a tree was planted 20 years ago, in 2004, when the Muslim Scout Fellowship officially registered as a Scout Active Support Unit.
And from the seed that was planted then, grew the organisation that you see before you today. An organisation that we all love. An organisation that has already helped to raise many of our children.
But we all know the best trees bear fruit.
So, what are the fruits of the MSF tree?
It’s what you will find in all our events, and in your local scout groups in your own community:
Young Muslims who have a better sense of who they are and an even greater sense of belonging to their ummah, because of the supportive Scouting community that they are a part of.
Who make lifelong friends with other kids like them, sharing countless adventures and learning experiences together.
Young Muslims who, having benefited from the support of their community, then give back to their community, time and time and time again.
Young Muslims, for whom being of service becomes encoded into their very being.
And these young people, by the will of Allah, and with the skills and experiences and the good tarbiyah that they gain along their scouting journey, are the ones who will become the adults that will lead and shape our community and wider society for generations to come.
“The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago; and the second best time is right now.”
So right now, we want to invite you to plant a new seed – one that with the help and support of Allah, will help support our organisation, and enable us to continue serving our young people, and help us continue to grow Scouting, and to continue building the capacity of our Scout leaders and putting on big Scouting events.
Scouting in our communities is a much-needed resource, especially when for the last 20 years we have seen youth services decimated, thousands of youth centre close, and funding consistently reduced and withdrawn.
COVID and the ongoing cost-of-living crisis has also affected our community the hardest and with Islamophobia running rampant in our society - what do we think will happen to our young people if as a community we don’t come together and provide institutions that will help them get the best start they can in life?
The need to plant that seed and build institutions like MSF, that work all year round to support and develop our young people - has never been greater.
We want to do more. We need to reach more young people. We want to give our groups even more support and resources. We need to be able to go to where our scout groups are rather than expect them to come to us. We need to offer more events and opportunities for our young people whilst keeping them financially accessible.
We can only do this with your help and support.
So, this Ramadan, make a generous donation, plant that tree and help uplift and empower our communities for generations!
JazakAllahu Khayran
May Allah accept it from you, ameen!
