Story

Running 50 Miles for Poppy – MSS Ultra Marathon Challenge

We are Midland Scaffolding Services or MSS, as we’re better known and we’re taking on an incredible challenge to raise money for a cause that’s deeply personal to our team.

On behalf of MSS, Ben our Director and Jordan our Estimator will be running an ultra-marathon. 50 miles starting from our prestigious ‘Tea Factory’ site in Digbeth, Birmingham. This site, being developed by BAM Construction into the future home of the BBC, is where our journey begins. BAM have shown phenomenal support for this event, backing us wholeheartedly from day one, we’re incredibly grateful to have them behind us every step of the way.

We’ll be finishing the run at the home of Northampton Town Football Club, a place close to our hearts. MSS has proudly supported the club for nearly 40 years, not just as a sponsor, but as a long-standing community partner. It’s the perfect finish line for a challenge that’s all about loyalty, resilience, and heart.

We’re doing this for Poppy, the daughter of Gary Rouse, our longest-serving scaffolder with 26 years of loyal service. Poppy was born in December with Down Syndrome and a heart condition that requires surgery. Since birth, she’s faced multiple hospital stays, feeding complications, and now relies on a feeding tube. She needs to gain more strength and weight before her surgery can take place and her wonderful family are doing everything they can to get her there.

We’re raising money for Caudwell Children, an incredible UK charity that provides life-changing support for disabled and seriously ill children. They fund mobility equipment, therapies, specialist care, and help families like Gary’s access the resources and treatment they urgently need.

This run is for Poppy and every donation will help give her and children like her the best possible start in life.

Please give what you can. Every mile we run and every pound you donate makes a real difference.

Thank you for your support.
