Story
On 10th October I’ll be taking on Tough Mudder 15K in sunny Manchester to raise money for The Kirkwood Hospice — a cause and place that is incredibly close to my heart.
Some of you may know my amazing mum Vicki was diagnosed with stage 4B ovarian cancer in 2023. Since then she has fought endlessly with countless rounds of chemotherapy and other medications along with everything else the disease has thrown at her.
After more than 3 years of fighting she peacefully gained her wings while being cared for by the amazing team of Dr's and Nurses at The Kirkwood during her final days.
I honestly cannot put into words how much their support means to our family. They’re not only cared for Mum and kept her comfortable (and for those who really know mum, put up with her 🤣) but they’re also supporting me and my family during this devastating time. The kindness, compassion and again for those who really know mum; the patience all of the staff showed mum has meant more than I could ever explain.
So to both honour my beautiful mum & show my support back to The Kirkwood, myself along with some other poor sods I have guilt tripped into are going to put ourselves through a few obstacles, get caked in mud, collect a few bruises & possibly some broken bones along the way 😂 — to raise funds for a special place that having seen first-hand the difference they make, I couldn’t think of a more worthwhile charity to raise money for.
With The Kirkwood being over 75% funded by voluntary donations, charity shops & local fundraising - every donation will help The Kirkwood continue to provide the care and support they give to patients and their families when they need it most.
If you're able to donate no matter how big or small it would mean the world.
Thank you so much for supporting me, Mum and The Kirkwood 🫶🏼
Fly high my beautiful mum, best friend & hero 🌟
