Story
💙 I’m swimming 500 miles in my 50th year for charity.
Around 10 miles a week, every week, for a full year.
💦 The challenge
I’m swimming 500 miles over my 50th year, mostly in the pool, with lots of early mornings and long sessions. I normally swim around 5 miles a week, so this is a big step up. Every mile will be logged, stroke by stroke.
💙 Why I’m doing it
I’m doing this challenge in memory of my nephew, Ben. Ben would have turned 30 this year, but we lost him far too young at the age of 24 to suicide. This swim is my way of honouring him and supporting mental health.
🏘️ Who I’m raising money for
HAB (Harborough Anti-Bullying & Mental Health) is a Market Harborough–based charity supporting people affected by bullying and mental health challenges. It provides counselling support, advocacy, workshops and practical help for individuals and families. With demand for its services continuing to rise, this local charity needs as much support as possible to keep doing so much for our community.
📍 What 500 miles looks like
That’s roughly the distance from London to Inverness, or almost 20 English Channel swims, completed over one year.
💙 Thank you
If you’re able to donate, share, or follow along, thank you. Every mile supports HAB and truly means a lot
