Story
I will participate in the Aberdeen Kiltwalk, raising money for Enable! Here is more information about Enable and what they do:
Enable’s mission is to create an equal society for every person with a learning disability.
Enable are able to support young people, aged 8-18 in 6 different areas in Scotland. Through our inclusive community groups, we aim to improve young people’s mental health, build confidence and self-esteem. Through our interactive, youth led activities young people develop friendships through their shared experiences and new challenges, whilst having lots of fun! Including Inverness where I am the Youth Coordinator
An important element of our groups is supporting young people to travel independently to allow them to access new opportunities. We encourage the young people we support to develop new skills, and develop local campaigns to address any barriers they encounter when travelling in their local communities, hopefully making changes for future generations!
Each year Enable directly supports more than 1,000 people across Scotland’s local authorities to be local activists, get specialist information, advice and advocacy, access community-based support across a growing network of local groups, and lead campaigns for change.
We have a membership and supporter movement of more than 12,000 people across the country and a network of over 30 local activism groups, 36 affiliated branches.
