Story

Thank you so much for visiting my JustGiving page.

In January, I will be running the Marrakech Marathon, a huge challenge for me since I only started running a few months ago. It will take discipline, patience and a lot of hard work, but I am doing it for a cause far bigger than myself.

I am running for Sudan.

Since April 2023, violence and conflict have been tearing Sudan apart, creating the world’s biggest humanitarian catastrophe. In the Darfur city of El Fasher, there are horrific reports of mass killings and suffering as fighting intensifies. Civilians have endured an 18-month siege that has cut off all aid. Homes, hospitals, schools and mosques have been bombed repeatedly.

Families are now starving as food and medicine have run out, yet humanitarian aid continues to be blocked.

Across the country, the war has created the largest displacement crisis on earth. An estimated 15 million people have been forced from their homes, more than half of them children. Many are living in temporary camps where conditions are extremely poor. Famine is spreading rapidly and young children are dying of hunger in cities, villages and displacement camps.

Around 28,700 people have been killed, but the real number is likely much higher. Diseases such as cholera and dengue fever are spreading, and 75 percent of health facilities in the worst-hit areas are no longer functioning. Communities are also reporting horrific violence, including mass rape and civilians being enslaved or buried alive.

The situation is beyond urgent.

Islamic Relief has worked in Sudan for over 40 years and continues to deliver life-saving aid despite extreme danger. They have supported more than 1.2 million people through food assistance, clean water, medical care, hygiene kits, temporary shelter, psychosocial support, medicine for clinics and cash support for displaced families. They are also helping farmers rebuild their livelihoods by providing seeds and essential supplies.

But the need is far greater than what any single organisation can meet alone.

I want to use the strength Allah has blessed me with to help raise what I can for the people of Sudan. Your donation can help deliver food, clean water, medical supplies and emergency aid to families who are struggling to survive.

If you are able to donate, even a small amount, it will make a real difference to people who urgently need support.

JazakAllah Khair for your generosity and your duas. ❤️
