On Sunday, 23rd August at 12:30 PM, we are taking the plunge into the River Tay to swim the YeAABA Discovery Mile!

If you know anything about open-water swimming in Dundee, you’ll know the Tay is beautiful but never warm. We'll be swimming a full mile down the river, from near the Bridgeview Station Café all the way to RRS Discovery. It’s a fantastic local event hosted by Ye Amphibious Ancients Bathing Association (YeAABA), and we're putting all those hours of pool training to the test in the wild, open water.

Why are we doing this?

We are raising vital funds to send the young athletes of Menzieshill Whitehall Swimming Club to their warm-weather training camp in Spain in 2027!

Our swimmers put in incredible dedication week in and week out—waking up for early morning sessions, pushing through tough sets, and constantly striving to improve. A training camp abroad is a massive milestone for them. It offers:

Elite Training: Intensive, long-course (50m) training sessions that simply aren't possible at home.

Team Bonding: Crucial team-building experiences that foster lifelong friendships and support networks.

Inspiration: A chance to experience what it’s like to train like professional athletes, keeping them motivated and engaged in the sport.

Trips like this are incredibly rewarding, but they also come with a significant cost. We want to make sure every qualifying swimmer can make it to Spain, regardless of their financial circumstances. Every single penny raised from this swim will go directly toward lowering the trip costs for our families.
