Attempt number 3 at The Wall (70 mile from Carlisle to Newcastle) this summer. It’s the one run img event that has eluded me to date. Ticked off 10K, Paras10, half marathon, Fan Dance, marathon but never made all 70 mile of The Wall. Got to a little over 50 mile in 2014 and just the 30 mile in 2022. I can’t guarantee I’ll make it this year either but I will try as hard as possible to reach that finish line.
I’ve never been the most confident of people and anxiety has been a constant issue for many years. Whilst I was starting to get on top of things in 2019 I really struggled in 2020 / 2021 and as lockdown continued I hit some very low points indeed. I’m not sure I’ve ever been the same person since lockdown if I’m honest. Confidence is not what it was and anxiety has rocketed. Not sure I’ve recovered huge Aa well as my Mam has after a bought of pneumonia in winter 2024 resulted in almost 5 months in hospital.
Men’s mental health is still a bit of a taboo subject, it’s not something we are good at talking about at all. I’ve not personally attempted an Andy’s Man Club session, coming back to the point men aren’t good at talking about mental health but it’s reassuring to know they are there. However the run goes on the day it means a lot to me to run for this charity, I can’t emphasise enough it’s time to talk.
