Thames Path Mighty Hike 2025 - full marathon · 26 July 2025 ·

Set yourself an exciting new challenge and hike a full or half marathon down the iconic Thames Path to raise vital funds for people living with cancer.

Story

In October 2022, my mum was diagnosed with cervical cancer. Although we were all terrified about what might happen, her oncology team were confident that with chemo and radiotherapy, she would give cancer the boot. They were right, as by April 2023 she was given the all clear. We were so relieved!

The treatment hit mum hard as while it destroyed the cancer, her body was badly damaged in the process, leaving her with poor mobility and other health issues.

Less than a year later and she was back in hospital, this time in ICU with sepsis. But mum wasn’t going to let this stop her from being at my wedding in April 2024. Our prayers were answered and she made it through! I will forever be grateful that she did and she was able to see me marry my husband.

Mum fought hard to regain her strength but in December 2024 we found out the cancer had not only returned but had spread to her brain. There was nothing that could be done other than to make her comfortable.

My beautiful and wonderful mum died on 11th December with my amazing stepdad by her side.

In July 2025, I have challenged myself to take on the Thames Path Mighty Hike to help raise money for people living with cancer.

I'd be so grateful if you could help me reach my £250 pledge, which can pay for a Macmillan Nurse for one day. This could provide people living with cancer and their families essential medical, practical and emotional support.

There are currently 3 million people living with cancer in the UK today. It's Macmillan's goal to be there for everyone from the moment of diagnosis, but they can't do this without donations from people like you.

Thank you!
