Story
My name is Thalia, I am 12 yrs old. Two years ago I was diagnosed with an aggressive brain tumour. When I was told it was very scary because the year before my Nana had died of cancer. The past two years have been very hard. I had three surgeries, chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
The tumour made it difficult for me to walk and do many of my activities but I fought to regain them. I love being outside and walking with my family.
I feel blessed that my tumour is currently stable. However, many kids die from this disease because there are no treatments.
That is why we are walking the Ullswater way so we can raise awareness and money for OSCARs.
OSCAR's Paediatric Brain Tumour Charity are walking the Ullswater Way in The Lake District to raise money to support children with brain tumours and their families, raise awareness of signs and symptoms of this terrible disease, and fund research into better and kinder treatments.
We will be walking ten years to the weekend that Oscar Hughes died of a brain tumour aged just 9. The charity that bears his name has helped so many other children in the same situation and the team taking on the walk are doing so to help even more.
