Story
Thank you for visiting my page! I'm privileged to have secured a ballot place for the London Marathon 2026.
I have a long way to go with my training as I have never run more than 10km! Kindly my training buddy Tina has agreed to help me and we have decided to run our first ever half marathon. We have signed up to the Royal Parks Half Marathon on Sunday 12th October running for The Brain Tumour Charity.
This charity means a lot to us and we would both like to raise money for Emily’s Fund. This is in memory of Emily Smith, the daughter of my friend Andy. Emily was just 8 years old when she died from a Diffuse Midline Glioma, just 11 days after diagnosis. Emily was an incredible young girl, with her whole life ahead of her. Being a similar age to our daughters it was heartbreaking to watch the Smith family go through this tragedy.
The need for further funding into research to find a cure is so necessary. Cancer is indiscriminate and can affect anyone. Emily is proof of that and more needs to be done now to find better ways of identifying what causes these tumours and how they can be stopped. Brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer and yet the investment in brain tumour research still represents just 1% of the national spend on cancer research.
The Smith family’s focus is raising funds and awareness for this disease to improve the hopes and lives of others affected. To hear more about Emily’s story follow this link https://youtu.be/nCRf3nXLp7s?si=3h9N0-iYt5nN602-
I would appreciate any donation to support the Smith’s in raising money and awareness for this vital charity.
Thank you
Nadia xx
