Story
These past few months have been hard- graft training and getting healthier to hike the Inca Trail in Peru amongst other adventures to fundraise for NT!
In preparation and to add to the event list I have hiked the Welsh 3 Peaks: Pen Y fan, Cadir Idris and Snowden. The day of my birthday and the day before starting the Inca Trail I will be completing a Yogathon- 108 Sun Salutations. Lastly, I will be running Cardiff Half Marathon 2025.
Part of my inspiration to hike this year was the loss of my dear best friend Jade Fairhurst. She was such a beautiful person and I miss her tenderly. After I lost my mum in 2008 I wanted to complete a solo trek to take the time to grieve and really sit with all the feelings, that time never came. When Jade passed last year I felt compelled to take the leap and do it. With my wife’s support and permission this trip is going ahead.
Nations Together is a charity that supports young people with learning disabilities within the community in Northern Tanzania. Public perception of those with learning disabilities in TZ are often negative, many people believe those with learning disabilities are cursed. For example, people with epilepsy can be believed to be possessed. Nations together tackles these misconceptions due to lack of awareness, and offers education by supporting their patrons to integrate within their community. They also have a community day & respite centre.
The administration fees for this small charity are minimal-to-none. It costs less than £1000 per month to run. So you sponsorship, however little really will go far compared to massive multimillion pound charities, their CEOs and advertising budgets.
Please help me to support nations together!
