Since joining our nursery in January 2022, Sonny has kept us all on our toes with his vibrant spirit and enthusiasm. However, last August, everything changed when he was diagnosed with high-risk neuroblastoma, an aggressive and fast-growing tumor in his adrenal gland. Since then, he has been undergoing extensive treatment in Leeds and is now in Manchester for the planning phase of proton therapy. He is now at the Proton Beam Therapy Centre discussing next steps to prepare him for this vital treatment aimed at targeting the residual disease and tumor site. Despite the challenges he faces, he continues to inspire everyone around him with his resilience and determination!

The work that The Candlelighters Trust does for children and their families at Leeds General Infirmary (LGI) is nothing short of incredible — providing comfort, care, and essential support during some of life’s toughest moments.

To raise awareness and vital funds for this amazing charity, our entire nursery will be walking from the nursery to the Sea Life Centre and back on February 23rd - 27th February , 2026. This may be a long way for their little legs, but it’s a journey filled with purpose! Every donation, big or small, will make a significant difference to children and families facing childhood cancer.
