5000 Mile Road Trip Following An Immature Route In A Rubbish Car
Three lads are planning to drive around 5000 miles around Europe in October following an immature route. This is to raise money for The OddBalls Foundation, for testicular cancer awareness.
The plan is to use one car, following “Mongol Rally”; rules - a car that is bought for £1000 or less, with a 1.2L engine or less. If you’re curious about the mindset behind doing something like this, I’d recommend looking at their website. We will be using a 1.1L 2010 Renault Clio, laden with three men and a roof-rack.
The challenges are mostly self-inflicted. The car is not traditionally suitable for a journey like this and will undoubtedly have issues, we’ll be driving for at least 7 hours a day in a small car. The route is a pain to follow, and to complete the task thoroughly a lot of the navigation will be tedious, and not all the roads are at a good standard. We’ll be camping for about 60% of the journey, with a few hotel/hostel/b&b stops. The unpredictability of something like this will be the main challenge, and solving those problems when they arise.
We also have a GoFundMe if you wish to support us personally. We’ll use this pot to help us do things like buy food, do our washing, and have a beer - https://www.gofundme.com/f/support-the-nads-army-lads-personally
The OddBalls Foundation is the UK's leading charity raising awareness of Testicular Cancer.
Testicular Cancer is the most prominent cancer in men aged 15-49, with around 2,400 new cases in the UK every year, that's more than 6 every day. However, if detected early, Testicular Cancer is one of the most curable cancers.
Help us raise awareness of Testicular Cancer to breakdown the stigma, provide people with the correct education, and encourage more men to check themselves on a regular basis, in doing so detect any problems early.
