Donations in memory of Jeannie Branch for Greenwich & Bexley Community Hospice

Nancy Simmons is raising money for Greenwich & Bexley Community Hospice
In memory of Jeannie Branch
Community Hospice provides free end of life care to anyone living with a terminal illness in Greenwich and Bexley, supporting around 3,000 people each year. Our goal is to help everyone we care for to approach death in the way that suits their values, beliefs and lifestyle.

Story

Our Beautiful Mumma, Jeannie Branch.

On Monday 27th October, we noticed a sudden change in mum’s behaviour, this continued and Wednesday 29th we took her to Kings College Hospital for assessment, it was that night we found out Mum had brain Cancer pressing on the emotional, memory and cognitive parts of her brain. From admission mum declined very quickly, losing the ability to regulate any emotion, engage in conversation or manage any physical activity. The rapid deterioration throughout the week led to very difficult, heartbreaking conversations with various doctors, consultants and registrars resulting in her being placed into palliative care.

The only thing at this point that we could do was to adhere to mums wishes, the main one being not allowing her to die in hospital. Due to the required medical assistance and pain control we decided the most suitable environment was to be the hospice of mums choice, which was Greenwich and Bexley Community Hospice, of which we managed to get her transferred to on Tuesday 4th November.

The hospice were amazing with the love, care and compassion that they showed to not only our Beautiful Mumma but us too, which we will be eternally grateful for.

The Hospice is only partially funded, but predominantly relies on charitable donations of which we ask you to consider making.
