Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On Saturday 30 May 2026, my partner and I are taking on the challenge of the UK's highest peak because every child has the right to a loving relationship with both parents - even when parents separate.
We are fundraising for Shared Parenting Scotland, taking on Ben Nevis on 30th May with the SPS team (hopefully I’ll make it to the summit this time!). We have 3 weeks to rebreak in our walking boots and get some practice in before the hike 🫣
SPS charity works to ensure that any child affected by separation of their parents continues to have a loving relationship with both parents.
After separating from his ex, my partner has had a long battle with many ups and downs to try to maintain a relationship with their child. Over this time he and many other parents, and grandparents have accessed peer support from SPS who hold fortnightly meetings for parents separated from the children, having to navigate the court system / request contact orders / negotiate with the other parent. Their support has been invaluable throughout this time for him and us. It’s certainly been a huge rollercoaster that has affected us both since we met and especially over the last 12 months during attempts to agree any contact.
We would both really appreciate any support - if you feel able, even words of encouragement to get us up (and back down) the mountain.
Any money raised will go directly to Shared Parenting Scotland. The organisation works every day to support parents through one of life’s toughest transitions - ensuring that children don’t lose the people they love most.
The climb is a symbol of the challenge many families face navigating complex court processes, delays, and emotional strain.
We’re stepping up to say: children deserve better. Better support, better systems, and better outcomes.
Key Messages:
● No child should feel they’ve lost a parent just because their parents separated.
● Climbing a mountain is hard - but so is navigating family court. We promote the alternatives.
● Together, we can help families find alternative paths - keeping the rights of children at the centre.
Fundraising Target:
£5,200 – £4.00 for every metre scaled - please consider being part of it!
Funds raised will support:
● Bolstering our national helpline and growing our local group meetings offer.
● Support training and resources for parents and professionals.
● Increasing advocacy and policy influence to support parents and protect children’s rights after separation.
