Story
Someone is diagnosed with dementia every 3 minutes. This cruel reality has been part of my life for over 10 years now having watched my lovely Mum slowly but surely be taken away from us. As if that wasn't bad enough my Dad was also diagnosed with dementia last year and although it is still early stages the awareness of what is to come for him is only too real.
The emotional toll we experience as a family at every stage of this disease is heart-wrenching. We grieve each time it takes another piece of Mum away from us and having lived through it once only makes it even more unbearable knowing what Dad will have to go through.
Stuart and I are trekking 26miles in Snowdonia to raise money to support the work of the Alzheimer's Society. This charity is working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives and we hope that one day, families won't have to endure what we have been going through.
Your donation supports more research to find new ways to diagnose dementia, develop innovative treatments and ultimately (and hopefully) discover a cure. Thank you. Naomi & Stuart x
