Grandad Cec was my best friend and a man of joy. He brought Yorkshire charm, laughter and smiles to every occasion and brightened every day. He was so loved and he loved his family dearly. Thanks to Marie Curie he was able to spend his final days at home with his beloved wife.

Marie Curie provide free palliative and end of life care for people, no matter the illness. Whether at home or in a hospice, this expert and personalised care provides families with the opportunity to have as much time as possible with their loved one. Through their Night Sitting service, Grandad could stay at home, surrounded by his things and his family; safe in the knowledge that someone was with him in his dying moments. The care and support they provided made a difficult time that little bit easier.

Team Strider is made up Cec’s family walking together in his memory. He was a keen walker and we’re taking on this challenge together, knowing he’d be laughing and singing along the way.
