Story
My friends boy has been in hospital since May 8th following a terrible road traffic collision. As he recovers, his weeks have been made brighter by visits from the zoo, a musician from Tinderbox who plays music with him, a local famous footballer, fun play Doctors, books, crafts, aromatherapy and even a sweet trolley.
The charity also supports the parents & siblings too, we have a place to drop by in “The Hub” and see friendly faces in red T-shirts daily, a hug or a supportive smile can mean a lot. They are all part of the Edinburgh Children's Hospital Charity. They believe no child should face hospital alone.
Every single day, 500 seriously ill children face a potentially life-changing hospital visit. And every day, with your help, they make those visits as positive as possible. Children say that coming to hospital can be frightening and parents can feel sick with worry.
The ECHC want to help change this in some small way - to make things better. They have certainly contributed to making our experience more positive.
As a thank you to all the extraordinary Edinburgh NHS staff, in particular the nurses, doctors, the paediatric Orthopaedic team, the Plastics team, the dentists, the play nurses, and all those that supported us in “The Hub”, we wanted to say thank you.
No thank you will ever be big enough to specifically thank the Edinburgh Major Trauma team, an amazing multi disciplinary team that has got Thomas back on his feet (and plan to again), they have stayed close him in theatre, had far too many chats with him about the medical world & their jobs & training (which fascinates him), and laughed & joked with him every day. They have kept us together as a family when we were breaking, they’ve hugged us and had tea with us, answered questions daily, they’ve found solutions before we even realised we had problems. They have each walked alongside us & our Thomas from day one and continue to do so.

Together with friends, we are walking the “Wee Wander” as part of the Edinburgh “Kiltwalk” for ECHC in September and we are hoping Thomas can join us.

Please support us if you can. Thank you. X
