Running with Faith: My First Marathon During Ramadan
This March, I’m taking on my first-ever marathon—the Cambridge Half Marathon on the 9th. But this isn’t just any race. I’ll be running while fasting during Ramadan, a month of spiritual reflection and self-discipline for Muslims. No food or water from dawn to sunset, even during the race. It’s a huge challenge, but it’s also a chance to push my limits and do something meaningful.
I’m running for Romsey Mill, and I’m proud to say I’m a staff member here. Every day, I see the incredible work we do to support over 2,000 individuals and families in Cambridge and beyond. We work tirelessly with young mothers and fathers, young people on the margins of society, those struggling in education, families with pre-school children, and young individuals with autism. The impact of this work is life-changing, and it’s clear how vital it is to our community.
Running this marathon while fasting is my way of honouring the resilience of the people we serve. It’s a reminder that even when things feel impossible, we can find strength in our faith, our community, and our determination to make a difference.
My goal is to raise £1,000 to support Romsey Mill’s vital programs. Every pound you donate will help change lives. Together, we can show that no challenge is too great when we run with purpose.
Join me in this journey. Donate today, and let’s cross the finish line knowing we’ve made a real impact.
With gratitude,
Nasser Ameen
