Relief Chest Scheme · 7 September 2020 to 7 September 2025 ·

We're on a mission to #UnlockFreedom for those who need it most. By raising awareness and vital funds for those fighting against oppression and human rights abuses, we can support a better future for all.

Story

My name is Hamidah, I am a Ugandan grassroots community organiser and human rights defender now exiled in Kenya because of advocating for the voiceless grassroots women. During my journey as a human rights defender, I have gone through hell. I have been molested by police and other security operatives publicly, imprisoned leaving my children helpless severally for defending human rights, tortured in different torture cells, house arrested leading to traumatizing my children and now facing attempts of extradition by the current regime in Kenya where I am in exile running away from persecution by the Museveni dictatorial regime in Uganda. We have no voice, we are being persecuted left right and center so helpless.

This April, I am going to take on a deeply personal challenge to raise awareness for what is going on in Uganda and Kenya. I will physically silence and restrain myself for hours to highlight the reality that human rights defenders like myself are surrounded, silenced and helpless. We can’t breathe; we are being suffocated.

But there is hope. Your donations will provide essential support to those who, like me, have risked everything for justice. Only through your support can we be free to live a life in safety and dignity.

Thank you for supporting my challenge.
