On the Tuesday before Christmas 2021 we were told our almost three month old baby Maverick, had been born with cancer. It was an unbearable moment that has been seared into my memory forever. I can tell you what room we were in, the movie playing in the waiting room, even the brand of tissues on the table in front of us. It’s a feeling of shock and devastation that no parent should have to feel.

Last year, Mav had his final scan. We now have a healthy, happy, cancer free, four year old who loves Pokémon, bats and being outside as much as possible. We are so lucky.

Neuroblastoma is a rare and aggressive children’s cancer that affects around 100 children each year in the U.K - usually under the age of 5. Neuroblastoma UK fund research for better treatments.
