In January 2025, my mum was diagnosed with stage 4 bowel cancer that had spread to her liver and lungs.

If I’m honest, I never imagined she would still be with us today. But her strength, determination and resilience have been nothing short of incredible, and she continues to inspire us every single day.

Throughout her treatment, Mum has received outstanding care from The Christie – a charity that is especially close to my heart, as I previously worked there in the fundraising team.

To show Mum just how loved and valued she is, her amazing colleagues created Cathy’s Heroes.

Our team of 20 is made up of Mum’s family, friends and colleagues, and together we’ll be taking on this challenge to raise as much money as possible for the charities that have supported Mum throughout her cancer journey.

My best friend Kate and I are taking part together, and we’d be so grateful for any donation, no matter how big or small. Every pound will help these incredible organisations continue providing life-changing care and support to other families facing cancer.
