Story
🌟 BIG NEWS! We are sleeping out under the stars for an incredible cause! 🌟
On Saturday 18th July, myself (Nat Kermeen), my mum Linda Kelch, sister-in-law Claire Quirk-Kermeen, and friend Sarah Johnson will be joining a small group of just 50 people, sleeping out in the open sky—rain or shine—at Sea Lion Rocks in Groudle Glen! 🌊✨
No tents, just a sleeping bag, the open air, and some local music to keep us going. 🎶
We are doing this to raise vital funds for Breast Cancer Now Volunteering Isle of Man (IOM Registered Charity No. 1200 / England and Wales Registered Charity No. 1160558). 💖
Why This Means Everything to Us 💕
This cause is deeply personal. As many of you know, my mum Linda was diagnosed with breast cancer and has the CHEK2 gene. Honestly, she wouldn't have got through it without the incredible breakthroughs made possible by Breast Cancer Now, alongside the amazing care and hands-on support from our local ‘Manx Breast Cancer Support Group’ and the wonderful team at the Manx Breast Unit at Noble's Hospital. 👩👧
Right now, breast cancer still rips apart far too many lives:
- 1 in 7 women will develop breast cancer in their lifetime.
-Every year, 55,000 women and 400 men are diagnosed.
-Tragically, 11,500 women and 90 men lose their lives annually—that’s one person every 45 minutes.
This needs to change. Now.
Breast Cancer Now is driven by one clear mission: that by 2050, everyone who develops breast cancer will live, and live well.
How Your Support Stays Local 🇮🇲
I know we all love to see fundraising stay local, so we wanted to share exactly why this event means so much. Because we don't have medical research labs here on the Island, our local volunteer team sends funds directly to world-class research centres.
It is exactly this science that creates the breakthroughs, treatments, and drugs—like discovering genetic links, introducing life-saving inhibitors, and finding ways to stop cancer cells from spreading—that patients right here on the Isle of Man receive at Noble's Hospital.
By donating, you are directly funding the science that saves the lives of people in our own community. 🧬✨
Our amazing local team has raised an incredible £2 million+ to date for this life-saving work. They also work hand-in-hand with the Isle of Man Breast Care group, ensuring that while Breast Cancer Now funds the future treatments, local patients and families get direct, hands-on support here at home.
How You Can Help 👇
To take part, we have each pledged to raise a minimum of £250. Every single pound goes straight into funding the research that saves lives.
If you can spare a few pounds to sponsor our night under the stars, it would mean the absolute world to us and our family.
Thank you so much for your support! 🎒🌧️✨
