Story

On 19th May I’ll be running the Hackney Half marathon to raise funds for BEWT in memory of our beautiful friend Billie, on the week of her anniversary.

On 7th May 2020, Billie suffered a Sub-Arachnoid Haemorrhage (SaH). After fighting for 6 days, Billie passed away on 13th May far too young. Billie was the most beautiful, bubbly and happy person, and was so loved by everyone that knew her.

I ran my first ever 10k on the day I found out about Billie in 2020 in any attempt to process the news and I signed up to Hackney in 2021 to raise money for BEWT but lockdown had other plans. I’ve been putting myself through weeks of training plan pain to hopefully make Billie proud so any donations would be so appreciated.

The Billie Elizabeth Wood Trust is raising money to fund vital research into the trauma that led to Billie's tragic death and prevent this from happening to others. Subarachnoid Haemorrhage is sadly under researched, however appears to affect a significant number of otherwise healthy people every year, with a startling skew towards young women.
