Story
🏃♀️ A Mum, a Half Marathon, and a Whole Lot of Determination!
Hi everyone! I’m a 37-year-old mum of three ‘crazy’ kids (plus one very demanding dog!) and I work full-time as a Senior Brand Manager for a confectionery company — which means I’m constantly surrounded by sweets that definitely don’t help my training!
Here’s the thing: I am not a runner. In fact... I hate exercise. I’m far more comfortable with a glass of wine and a good meal than a pair of running shoes! So yes — this half marathon is a MEGA challenge for me.
But I’m determined. I’ve started training and can just about manage 5km right now (January) — only another 16km to go! I’m not aiming to win, and I’ll probably cross the finish line at the back of the pack… but I will finish it, and I’m training every (other) day to make it happen.
If you love an underdog story — this is your moment to back one!
You might be wondering why on earth I’ve decided to take this on, especially with a busy job, three kids, a husband, and a dog to juggle… Well, there’s an incredibly good reason.
I’ve been given the amazing opportunity to run for Our Dementia Choir — and I simply couldn’t say no. The choir’s work is truly inspiring. Every time I meet them or see them perform, I’m filled with such joy. Dementia has touched the lives of my family and friends, and seeing the happiness and support the Choir brings — not only to its members, but also to their carers — is nothing short of incredible.
So I’m running (and sweating, and struggling!) to raise as much as I can for this fantastic cause.
Please donate whatever you can — every pound makes a difference. And if you fancy a laugh, come cheer me on September 27th… it’ll definitely be entertaining if nothing else!
Thank you so much for your support — it means the world. ❤️
