Story
Music is a big part of all our lives, and performing in a concert will not only be a chance to showcase the students' piano abilities, but will also be a chance to entertain an audience and hopefully put a smile on each other's faces! Music plays a special role in the way it makes you feel, and I feel this is evident not only in my students, but in anyone who just enjoys listening to music and isn't that everyone? Three of my grandparents have been living with dementia, and the happiest I see them is when they are listening to their favourite songs! This is why I have chosen "Music for my Mind" which aims to help those with dementia be able to listen to their favourite music which will improve their quality of life:
We all have favourite songs. Or a piece of music associated with a particular memory. And there’s growing evidence for music's beneficial effects. Music for my Mind (registered charity number 1167246) was founded with the aim to improve the well-being of people living with memory loss and dementia, their family, friends and care-providers, by creating and making personalised music widely available, as an affordable social prescribing tool in dementia. We want to use research and technology to bring music to all families affected by dementia.
