Story
HEROS Charity was founded by Grace Muir, MBE in 2006 to retrain and rehabilitate and rehome ex racehorses and are the preferred after care provider by the Retraining of Racehorses. In addition, since 2015 we have used ex racehorses as the catalyst to spark inspiration in young people that have additional learning needs, and this is an area HEROS has excelled at. We have young people aged from 11-23 yrs who do not cope in mainstream schooling and come to us as an alternative educational provider and work with the horses as part of their education. There is sadly a massive demand for placements for young people with special educational needs in our area, many of whom have been out of education for some time prior to coming to us for a variety of reasons. They often also have a range of social, emotional, and mental health issues. HEROS aims to get these young people into the workplace with the confidence to fulfil their individual potential.
