Story
On the beautiful island of Limnos which is situated in the Greek Aegean Sea, there is a dog shelter where the vast majority of homeless dogs on the island now live. It is called the Limnos Dog Shelter. For the last six years I have visited this dog shelter with my husband and children during our summer holidays. Our aim on each visit is to give all these homeless dogs some love and attention which they deeply miss. Most of the dogs have been abandoned by their owners, in most cases because the dog is too old or not suitable any longer to perform its guarding/herding duties. This means the dog will then end up living the rest of its life in a cage in the dog shelter. And this breaks my heart. The living conditions at the shelter are not the greatest. So I have decided this year to try raise some money to help improve these living conditions. For this reason I will be running the London Half Marathon this year to help raise money for Starlight Barking, which is the charity which funds Limnos Dog Shelter. If anyone can donate any amount of money towards this, it will be greatly appreciated. I have realised in life, that a dog is one of the few species in this world which will love you forever to the very end. These abandoned creatures at the Limnos Dog Shelter do not deserve this type of life. Please, let us all try and help.
