I was diagnosed with Stage 4 Non Small Cell Lung Cancer EGFR+ in January 2023. This cancer is unfortunately incurable and was caused by a gene mutation - there was nothing I did to cause this disease and nothing could have done to prevent it. I am a fit, healthy non-smoker who is desperately trying to raise awareness of the signs of early lung cancer, especially in non-smokers. Quite often our symptoms are overlooked or we are falsely reassured by medical professionals that our symptoms are benign; we mistakenly believe that lung cancer is a smoking-only disease. There are so many stigmas attached to lung cancer and I am determined to challenge these. The Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation is the only British charity solely dedicated to funding research and supporting those affected by lung cancer.
