Natasha's fundraiser for Spinal Research

Natasha Sturgess is raising money for Spinal Research

Paris Marathon 2025 · 13 April 2025 ·

Every two hours, someone in the UK will become paralysed. Globally, it is estimated that 15.4 million people are living with paralysis. At Spinal Research our vision is to create a world where paralysis can be cured, no matter when the injury occurred or where in the world.

Story

When I was 15 I was diagnosed with scoliosis and underwent surgery to fit two titanium rods in my back to straighten my spine which had a 70 degree curve.

In 2023 my mum ran the London marathon and in 2024 I did. In 2025 we have decided to run together and have roped in my brother too. This charity is incredibly important to me and am honoured to be running the Paris marathon with my mum in aid of spinal research.

Spinal Research is the UK’s leading charity funding medical research around the world to develop effective treatments for paralysis caused by spinal cord injury. There are an estimated 105,000 in the UK living with an injury.

They receive no government funding and rely entirely on the support of the public to raise funds for our research. Because of the efforts of our supporters, we have funded innovative medical research that has achieved a number of ground breaking changes in the field.

If you can spare a little that would be amazing!! xx
