Christmas is a particularly difficult time for young adults who have recently left the social care system. They find themselves forced into living alone at a young age, often isolated without parental or family contact and support. At a time of year which is so much about family and togetherness, many care leavers face spending Christmas Day alone.

Since 2017, Cocoon - Care After Care have provided a Christmas Day event for 50 local care leavers (age 18-25) from across three London Boroughs - Hounslow, Richmond and Kingston - to ensure that they are treated with kindness, care and given the experience of a traditional family-feel Christmas that they deserve.
