Amatuer Strongman Competition · 15 July 2023

The King’s Trust supports 11 to 30 year-olds who are unemployed or struggling at school to get their lives on track. Many of the young people we support are in or leaving care, have been in trouble with the law, or they are facing challenges such as homelessness or mental health issues.

Story

I am a personal trainer specialising in coaching beginners. I know that for anyone starting their fitness journey, it is extremely challenging on their confidence.

As I am no longer a beginner, I wanted to do something completely new and lead by example by challenging my confidence. Therefore I have signed up to compete in an amateur Strongman Competition.

Various friends and family have said they would sponsor me to do this, so I have decided to raise money for the Princes Trust.

The Prince’s Trusts mission is to transform lives, with a particular focus on supporting young people into education, employment, and enterprise. They help 11–30-year-olds find the tools and confidence to try free courses and start careers.

When I was 16, I dropped out of college. I had no qualifications and extremely low self-esteem. But while working with a support officer, I was introduced to a course run by the Prince's Trust. I was lucky enough to pass the assessment process and then went on to going through a life changing program. Following this, I worked overseas for 3 years. The support I received and the opportunities I had completely changed my life.

I think it is amazing that there is a charity out there offering the opportunity for young people to gain their confidence and get granted access to education, employment and experiences they otherwise wouldn’t have had.

In September 2020, they announced they had supported 1,000,000 young people to date. I am proud to say that I was one of them.

I love what they do and what they stand for and by challenging my confidence, I am hoping to give others the opportunity to do the same.

In addition to all donations, I will be donating 10% of all money made from Beginner Fitness Plan to this fundraiser.
